EMDR Therapy

EMDR is a highly effective therapeutic intervention for working with trauma and anxiety.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is used to directly tackle negative thoughts and emotional reactions caused by trauma and difficult past experiences to restore a sense of safety and well-being.  I offer an attachment-focused and somatic-focused approach to EMDR, which acknowledges the interconnectedness of the mind and body, and emphasizes the importance of addressing both aspects in trauma healing. My approach to EMDR ensures the treatment is conducted in a way that respects your nervous system and maintains a manageable and safe space for healing and integration.

Basics Of EMDR

EMDR uses bi-lateral stimulation to activate the adaptive information processing system of the brain, allowing for painful memories, feelings and thoughts to more easily integrate into ones experience. EMDR is an evidence based practice. Check out EMDRIA for more information.

Treatment options offered for EMDR

I provide EMDR therapy within regular 60 minute sessions or as extended sessions which can be combined with somatic movement & therapeutic yoga (see below).

Extended EMDR Sessions that can include Therapeutic Yoga (90-120 minute sessions) provide space for a dedicated focus on reprocessing trauma and difficult experiences, along with providing nourishment with experiential components of relaxation, physical support, and more time for powerful integration. EMDR is a highly effective evidenced-based treatment method for healing from trauma and PTSD. It also has shown effectiveness for working with anxiety, low self-worth, chronic pain, and depression.

I offer longer sessions to support highly focused care in addition to providing the space and time to integrate insights from EMDR treatment, while supporting relaxation, empowerment, and self-expression through somatic movement and therapeutic yoga. I build an individualized plan for working with your unique nervous system, that maintains deep trauma reprocessing to get the changes you are looking for, while building in somatic movement and therapeutic yoga for maintaining a manageable pace of the therapeutic work and promoting integration of new insights and meaning.

Pairing EMDR and Yoga helps address underlying issues while offering immediate, manageable steps towards feeling more empowered and capable.

You deserve to Be free from the sufferring of the past and live a life you love.

What is the Cost of an extended EMDR + Somatic Movement/Therapeutic Yoga Session?

  • 90 Minute session $255, 120 Minute session $340

  • Included is a workbook that helps with nervous system education and emphasizes building awareness of your unique signals to support empowered steps towards deeper regulation and relaxation. Also included is a private playlist of resources and relaxation exercises to use between sessions.

We will discuss your specific goals and desires, to start to build out the treatment plan that fits you best.

Depending on individual needs/preferences, somatic movement and Therapeutic Yoga practices can be scattered between EMDR sets, as well as in the last 20 - 30 minutes of the session to help contain and ease transition from deep trauma reprocessing.

Shorter EMDR sessions can feel challenging to access the targeted memory and get deeper into the therapeutic work, as the time to settle into the appointment and close out, leaves you with little actual reprocessing time. A longer session can provide more space to get deeper into reprocessing, while also supporting integration and relaxation to fully contain the experience.

This specific treatment option may be right for you if:

  • You have difficulty finding the time to schedule consistent weekly therapy sessions and prefer to dive in and make progress in longer sessions.

  • You have a primary therapist that you want to continue to work with but you want focused support from a trauma specialist to address past overwhelming experiences.

  • You want relief, and also want dedicated time to promoting relaxation, security, and experiences of nourishment, that can help maintain more longterm changes.
